Games start in just a few hours, and last week’s scores are in. Now we get to see who takes the lead on the court today. If you snap any great shots from the games, please send them to dosocialmedia@etiwanda.org. Let’s see who brings the heat this week.

Instruction in Action: Mr. Vasquez and the Power of TEACCH
At Etiwanda Colony Elementary, Mr. Vasquez is transforming learning through the TEACCH method—an approach that celebrates every student’s strengths.
By using visual supports, clear schedules, and organized work systems, Mr. Vasquez creates a classroom where students know what to expect, feel empowered to communicate, and build genuine independence.
The results speak for themselves: his students are thriving as they grow in confidence, collaboration, and joy for learning every day.
This is what happens when great instruction meets intentional design. Thank you, Mr. Vasquez, for showing how structure and creativity can work hand in hand to unlock potential!

Today we celebrate our incredible Education Support Professionals—the Instructional Aides, Campus Support Staff, ML Assistants, and Behavior Intervention Specialists/Paraprofessionals who help our schools thrive every day. Whether they’re guiding small groups, supporting students on the playground, or lending a helping hand wherever it’s needed, they make a lasting difference in every classroom and hallway. Our schools wouldn’t be the same without you!

Miss Ali’s seventh graders at Heritage Intermediate had a great time with a hands-on math activity. Students practiced calculating tax, discounts, and other real-world percent skills by creating their own stores and advertisements. It turned into a full lesson that made math feel practical and fun for everyone.

Celebrating Native American Heritage Month at Summit Intermediate. Mrs. Keyes’ class found a creative way to honor the month by decorating their classroom doors with student-made designs. Their work added color, culture, and pride to the campus.

What a great way to start the week by sharing these photos from Colony. AAPEAC-sponsored Ruby Bridges Walk to School brought students, families, and staff together to honor Ruby’s courage as the first African American student to attend an all-white school. Everyone met at a nearby park and walked to campus as a tribute to her legacy. After the walk, families enjoyed pastries and coffee, spent time connecting, and learned more about the importance of this day for our students and community.

Solorio Elementary had a special moment in Mrs. McNabb’s second grade class this week. As the “Star of the Week,” student Lia invited family friend Ricardo Sandoval to speak to her classmates. Ricardo, a professional boxer from Rialto and the current WBC and WBA Flyweight World Champion, is signed with Golden Boy Promotions.
He spoke with students about hard work, dedication, and the countries he has visited through boxing, including Mexico, Russia, the UK, and Japan. He also shared that he is a proud college graduate from Cal State San Bernardino, reminding students that education is key no matter where their goals lead them.
The class loved the presentation, and Lia’s family is sending a big high five to both Lia and Ricardo for bringing such an inspiring experience to her classmates.

Shoutout to Ms. Eiland! Everly can’t stop talking about how kind and fun you are and how much she loves 1st grade. You’ve made school such a wonderful experience for her, and her family truly appreciates you!

A big shoutout goes to DWL’s amazing Speech Pathologist Assistant, Mrs. Rachael! Each week, she leads engaging and hands-on speech centers with the youngest students. They work on identifying core words, practicing turn-taking, and sequencing a four-part story about Mat and Molly — all while using fun props, core boards, and voice-generated buttons that help every student participate. DWL is grateful for Mrs. Rachael’s creativity, patience, and dedication to helping students find their voices and strengthen their communication skills!

Shoutout to Ms. Elizabeth at Grapeland Elementary! From Kolton and his family—thank you for your patience, encouragement, and support. Your guidance has helped Kolton grow into a confident and curious learner, and your compassion means the world to us!

Spotlight on service. Tonight’s board meeting included a special recognition for our partners at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and the Fontana Police Department. Their steady support helps keep our students and schools safe, and we are grateful for their commitment to our community.
Thank you to our local law enforcement partners for all you do for Etiwanda students and families.

Tonight’s board meeting included a fun celebration as we honored the winners of our districtwide hand washing poster contest. Etiwanda students from across the district submitted creative and thoughtful designs, and these talented winners truly stood out. Their posters will be displayed throughout our schools to remind everyone how important it is to wash their hands and stay healthy.
Congratulations to our student artists!

A Standing Ovation for Our Band Teachers!
When passion meets precision, magic happens—and our band program is proof.
This year, our incredible music teachers—Mr. Peske, Mr. Peralta, Ms. Karbel, Ms. Miller, and Mr. Whitehead—took collaboration and instruction to a whole new level. Each teacher met with their band students in small groups at their school, guiding them through five instrumental pieces with focused, skillful practice.
Their students became so well-prepared that when musicians from four schools finally came together, it took only a few joint rehearsals to blend beautifully into one powerful, unified District Honor Band.
The result? An awe-inspiring performance that filled the room with harmony, heart, and the unmistakable sound of excellence.
Let’s celebrate these remarkable teachers for showing what’s possible when dedication, collaboration, and artistry come together in perfect rhythm!
