What a special way to kick off the 100th Day celebration with two amazing educators from Caryn Elementary. This is Miss Zwerener’s very first 100th Day as a new kindergarten teacher, and Mrs. Morris’ final 100th Day as she prepares to retire this year. A meaningful moment for both, and their students are truly lucky to have them in the classroom.
How did your students celebrate the 100th Day of School? Send photos to dosocialmedia@etiwanda.org and we will share them with our community.

In Mrs. Robinson’s classroom at West Heritage, math is active, engaging, and full of student thinking. Using thinking classroom strategies, students work together to solve challenging problems, using different tools and approaches to deepen their understanding. You can see it in the room: students talking through their ideas, asking questions, and confidently explaining their reasoning. This kind of learning builds critical thinking, collaboration, and confidence. It is powerful instruction in action, and it happens here every day.

High five to Mrs. Sandusky from Hannah and her family at Lightfoot. They shared how loving, supportive, and encouraging she is with her students, especially when it comes to building confidence and a true love of reading.

Hannah went from not knowing any words to reading independently and recently finished her first chapter book with over 100 pages, all on her own, in just half a school year. That kind of growth reflects Mrs. Sandusky’s patience, dedication, and belief in every child.

Thank you, Mrs. Sandusky, for making such a meaningful impact. High five.

High five to Jasper from his family, who shared how proud they are of him. He has been helping out with chores at home, recently earned a perfect score on a math quiz, and continues to shine as a creative thinker, speaker, writer, and artist. His drawings of sea creatures and hydraulic robots are especially impressive.

They also shared that Jasper often helps other kids after school, has been patient through lots of changes, and shows so much generosity. His curiosity inspires those around him, he has a special connection with animals and nature, and his quiet sense of humor keeps everyone smiling. HIGH FIVE, JAS!!

Children remember time spent together, not time spent on a screen. Simple moments—reading a book, cooking dinner, or walking the dog—build stronger connections than any app ever could. #HealthyEtiwandaKids

Mrs. Abbruzzese’s second grade class is learning about holiday traditions around the world. They learned about a tradition in Holland, Germany, and Hungary where children put their shoes out for Mikulás, or St. Nicholas. On the eve of December 5, children place their shoes or boots outside in hopes of receiving a treat and leave straw and carrots for St. Nicholas’ horse. When students arrived at school, they found a surprise waiting for them. St. Nicholas left each student a tangerine and gold chocolate coins.
