Bobbi Patterson, a success coach at West Heritage Elementary, is receiving a high five today. Bobbi has made over 300 book bags available to students to take home and read with their families. Students can swap out books all year and keep them as long as they want. Every day, she goes above and beyond for her students.

Ms. Jourdain and her students identify, describe and create shape attributes. Way to go Eagles!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, TK students at West Heritage Elementary made art in the style of Jean-Michel Basquiat. How awesome and creative!

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Mrs. Martinez's 5th grade class at Perdew Elementary learned about mariachi music during their music class.

Making piñatas out of tissue paper in Ms. Houghton's kindergarten class at Grapeland! This project went along with the book they read titled "The Piñata that the Farm Maiden Hung."

Students in East Heritage's after-school enrichment program explored coding with interactive robots.

Ishaan, a student at Day Creek Intermediate, participated in the 3M Junior Scientist Challenge this year. He invented a tactile electronic braille device that can convert any voice or text message to braille and display it on a device that he created. He used a Raspberry Pi Pico to create the electronic device and connected it to a mobile app that he also developed. His project was so impressive that he was selected as one of the Top 10 Junior Scientists of 2023, and he is the only student from Southern California to make it to the finals. Not only that, but his device was also ‘field tested’ at the Inland Empire Lighthouse for the Blind in San Bernardino. His innovation has the potential to change the lives of millions of visually impaired people. Tiger students, families, and staff are sending a huge shout out to Mr. White for always making their site school-ready. He spent time deep cleaning buildings, poles, light fixtures, and floors to welcome everyone back to school. Tiger families have seen Mr. White at Solorio for 22 years! He is an integral part of their site, and their campus is better because of him!

Today we celebrate Custodial and Maintenance Workers' Appreciation Day. Thank you to our amazing team for keeping our schools and worksites running smoothly and safely.

Join us for Star Wars Reads Day on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This fun filled day organized by the Etiwanda School District libraries will take place at the Barnes & Noble in Rancho Cucamonga. Activities are free and will include puzzles, crafts, story time, the Star Wars Amazing Race, a costume contest, a Lego building contest and more! The 501st will also be visiting participants during our event! We will have drawings for prizes. A portion of purchases made during this event benefit the school libraries in the Etiwanda School District. For more details visit the Events Area on the district website.

Ms. Sumlin at DWL is getting a high five today for consistently going above and beyond her responsibilities as an RSP teacher. Let's make this high-five extra special because it's also her birthday. Thank you Ms. Sumlin for all that you do for DWL Elementary.

Perdew Elementary is giving a high five to one of their PE aides, Matthew Noyes. Mr. Noyes takes time to connect with the kids during their lunch time, playing handball, shooting hoops, and just getting to know the students. They love how he is always going above and beyond to connect with their Perdew Pioneers! Thank you, Mr. Noyes!

We are sending out a high five today to some amazing 4th grade students at Golden Elementary for working together on peer editing during their UA time. Way to go, Stars!

Mrs. Hutton, an amazing volunteer at West Heritage, is receiving a high five today. She has two grandkids who attend West Heritage and has volunteered her time to help out in Mrs. Guski’s kindergarten class every day since school started. She will gladly help anytime you need her and absolutely loves working with the students. We appreciate you, Mrs. Hutton!
