Students in East Heritage's after-school enrichment program explored coding with interactive robots.

Ishaan, a student at Day Creek Intermediate, participated in the 3M Junior Scientist Challenge this year. He invented a tactile electronic braille device that can convert any voice or text message to braille and display it on a device that he created. He used a Raspberry Pi Pico to create the electronic device and connected it to a mobile app that he also developed. His project was so impressive that he was selected as one of the Top 10 Junior Scientists of 2023, and he is the only student from Southern California to make it to the finals. Not only that, but his device was also ‘field tested’ at the Inland Empire Lighthouse for the Blind in San Bernardino. Tiger students, families, and staff are sending a huge shout out to Mr. White for always making their site school-ready. He spent time deep cleaning buildings, poles, light fixtures, and floors to welcome everyone back to school. Tiger families have seen Mr. White at Solorio for 22 years! He is an integral part of their site, and their campus is better because of him!

Join us for Star Wars Reads Day on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This fun filled day organized by the Etiwanda School District libraries will take place at the Barnes & Noble in Rancho Cucamonga. Activities are free and will include puzzles, crafts, story time, the Star Wars Amazing Race, a costume contest, a Lego building contest and more! The 501st will also be visiting participants during our event! We will have drawings for prizes. Perdew Elementary is giving a high five to one of their PE aides, Matthew Noyes. Mr. Noyes takes time to connect with the kids during their lunch time, playing handball, shooting hoops, and just getting to know the students. Mrs. Hutton, an amazing volunteer at West Heritage, is receiving a high five today. She has two grandkids who attend West Heritage and has volunteered her time to help out in Mrs. Guski’s kindergarten class every day since school started.
