Special Education

The Etiwanda School District offers a continuum of services and program options that provide children with exceptional needs access to a free, appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. Children enrolled in private schools, home schools, or public schools may be eligible to receive Special Education services. Children that have suspected or identified disabilities in the areas listed below may be eligible to receive special education services at no cost to parents in the least restrictive environment to the maximum extent appropriate. Eligibility varies and is based on student's needs.

  • Intellectual Disability

  • Emotional Disturbance

  • Multiple Disabilities

  • Hard of Hearing

  • Orthopedic Impairments

  • Autistic Like Behavior

  • Deafness

  • Other Health Impaired

  • Traumatic Brain Injury

  • Speech or Language Impairment

  • Specific Learning Disabilities

  • Established Medical Disabilities

  • Vision Impairment

  • Deaf/Blindness

The Etiwanda School District provides a variety of Special Education services including, but not limited to the following based on student’s needs:

  • Specialized Academic Instruction

  • Speech and Language Therapy

  • Occupational Therapy

  • Physical Therapy

  • Adapted Physical Education

  • Positive Behavioral Supports

  • Preschool Programs for student between the ages of three and five years old.

Parents of students with exceptional needs have additional rights and protections referred to as: Parent's Rights and Procedural Safeguards. Below are links to this document in English and Spanish.
