Frequently Asked Questions

My child forgot his homework at home. What should we do?

If your child does not have his/her homework when it's time to check, then a homework card will be pulled so that I can keep track of incomplete work. Students are welcome to turn it in the following day for credit. Students will not be allowed to call home to ask a parent to bring their homework. Homework is meant to practice what students have learned at home, but it's also meant to teach responsibility. Students should be completing homework at home and taking the time to pack up their backpack for the following day.

What should we do if we had an emergency and couldn't get homework done?

Please email me or write me a note explaining the reason and I will excuse him/her from the assignment so that a homework card doesn't get pulled. He/she can turn in the assignment the following day.

Help! My child is panicking because he pulled a card. What does that mean?

Pulling a card is meant to serve as a reminder. No student is perfect and mistakes will be made. It is okay for your child to pull a card or two! I believe that it is my job, as your child's teacher, to help him/her get more organized and be productive by engaging in learning, turning in homework/classwork, respecting others, and following directions. These cards are aligned to the district's Citizenship Standards. If your child pulls a card, there really is no consequence. It's a way to keep track so that i can let parents know what I'm seeing in the classroom, and for it to be a topic of conversation at home.

My child isn't feeling well. How do I excuse him/her from PE?

Please write a note or email me. I will let the PE teacher know that your child needs to be excused.
