Mrs. Zimmermann

Welcome to 6th grade at Etiwanda Intermediate!

My name is Jan Zimmermann and I teach Math and Science. I received my Bachelors of Arts at Western Governor's University.  I have been blessed to be part of the Etiwanda family as a teacher for the past 10 years; and, this is my 9th year teaching sixth grade here at E.I.S. I love teaching and I currently serve as one of our site's Kagan Coaches, I am part of our site's AVID Leadership program; and, I am currently in the process of becoming GATE certified through UCSD.   My partner teacher, Gina Martin, will be instructing your child in English Language Arts and Social Studies.  We will collaborate to provide our students a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.

I am a teacher, but I am also a wife, and mother.  My husband, David, and I have been married since 1997 and are vested members in this community.  We have three grown children, all of whom have attended the Etiwanda School District.    My passions are: learning new things, cooking, Pilates, hiking and anything related to vintage VW Beetles!

I am looking forward to a very exciting and productive 2023-2024 school year!

My Educational Philosophy

I believe ALL students can learn and thrive.  I also strongly believe that at this stage of learning, the learning is a shared responsibility and a cooperative effort between parent, child, and teacher.  BEST growth occurs when we each embrace our responsibilities in this process. Through this cooperative learning strategy, successful lifelong educational habits are built.
