Hello there, I’m Mrs. Harris! While my professional teaching career officially began over a decade ago, I’ve been immersed in the world of education for much longer. I began by teaching 2nd and 3rd grade, and one of the most rewarding experiences was looping with the same group of students for two consecutive years. Watching their growth over time—and growing with them—was truly unforgettable.
Eventually, I transitioned to middle school, a move that initially felt like a leap into the unknown. However, it didn’t take long for me to discover how special this age group really is. Middle schoolers are wonderfully curious, constantly evolving, and full of potential. Teaching them has brought me great joy and I feel confident that this is exactly where I’m meant to be.
My true passion lies in teaching social studies. I believe deeply in the power of historical and civic understanding—not just to learn about what came before, but to use that knowledge to shape a better, more thoughtful future. Helping students make connections between the past and the world they live in today is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Master of Arts in Education, and a Master of Arts in Educational Technology, all from Azusa Pacific University. Lifelong learning is something I value both personally and professionally. I believe that by continuing to grow and challenge myself, I can better support my students as they grow, too.
I’m truly excited for the year ahead and look forward to the opportunity to teach, support, and learn alongside my students!
