WHAT INFLUENCED ME TO BECOME A TEACHER:
As a teenager, I spent my summers teaching swimming lessons at a pool down the street from my house. Watching my students work hard to achieve their goal of swimming from one side of the pool to the other, was very exciting. Each summer offered another rewarding experience, which made me realize that I wanted to be a teacher.
EDUCATION:
I attended college at SJSU where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and a minor in Sociology. My teaching credential was earned locally at CSUSB, as well as a Masters in Teaching and Learning from Brandman University.
WHY ETIWANDA?
In 2002, I began substitute teaching in Etiwanda and was part of the team who opened Grapeland Elementary as a long-term sub. In 2003, I became an official "Grapeland Grizzly" employee and started my career off teaching 5th grade. Grapeland has been my home my entire teaching career and I feel very blessed to be part of such an amazing group of staff and students.
MISSION STATEMENT:
My goal is for each student to meet and exceed their maximum learning potential in an environment where they feel safe and supported. When given the opportunity to learn and grow, every child has the ability to meet the expectations that are set for them, regardless of their ability level. It is my hope that each of my students will leave 3rd grade feeling confident and proud of their accomplishments. Learning should be fun as well as challenging, and I am excited to celebrate along side you as your child reaches new heights.
Thank you for your support in the months to come. If you have any questions feel free to call me at school or through email.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Evans
