Brittany McCullough

I am pleased to introduce myself to you and welcome your family to our school. My name is Brittany McCullough, and I will be your child’s kindergarten teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. I am very excited for the opportunity to work with your child, and I look forward to a wonderful and successful year together. I am thrilled just thinking about all the wonderful things we will accomplish as a class!

This will be my twelfth year in the Etiwanda School District and my sixth year at Falcon Ridge. I grew up within the district and attended Caryn Elementary, Summit Intermediate, and finally Etiwanda High School. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from California State San Bernardino in Business Administration. After a few years of working in the field of management, I decided my true passion was working with children. I went back to school and earned my teaching credential from National University, then went on to obtain my Master’s in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, relaxing at the river, camping, and going off-roading. That is a little about me!

I believe that ongoing communication with parents is extremely important to ensure your child’s success during their early years in school. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me through email, Rooms, or by calling the school. You can also reach me through the "Contact Me" tab on my homepage, and the school’s phone number is (909) 463-6111.

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your family for the next 180 days.  I cannot wait to see the growth your child experiences this school year. Here is to a wonderful kindergarten year!

Warmest regards,
Brittany McCullough,
MA Ed.

Homework Assignments

At this point in time, the kindergarten team has decided to send home a weekly reading log that will be due at the end of each week.

If you would like to reinforce concepts taught in the classroom, the kindergarten team will send home packets of optional work that coincide with the skills being taught in the classroom. Packets will be due at the end of each week and students will receive a special treat if they are completed!

Math

For each chapter, I will complete a practice test with students the night before the actual test. This will give you the opportunity to sit down with your child and review the concepts that need to be mastered. It would also greatly benefit your child for them/you to model and use the vocabulary from each chapter (i.e. plus, minus, greater than, etc.) as much as possible at home so that they become familiar with the words and how they are applied in a real world context. You may use the link below to access the online math book and resources related to each math lesson. When you log onto the website for the first time, you will be required to enter our state, district, and school name. Click on the "Remember My School" box to save the information for the next time you log on. Then, you will need to enter your child's username and password that was provided to you on the passwords paper that was sent home.

Language Arts

Each language arts unit consists of three weeks in which students will learn skills that will be tested on at the conclusion of the unit. Instruction for each week may range from 5-7 days depending on the complexity of the skills being taught. Students would greatly benefit from reviewing classwork that is returned home as well as language arts skills presented in your child's homework packet. You can also assist your child with accessing ConnectEd (online language arts portal) for additional practice with the concepts that are presented weekly. You can access ConnectEd by following the directions below.

  • - Log into your child's district Google account (and only that account).

  • - Go to www.etiwanda.org/chromebooks and click ConnectEd.

  • - Follow the short directions that are listed with the ConnectEd link.

* Please reference the following document for how step-by-step directions on how to log on to the ConnectEd portal.

High Frequency Words

High frequency words are the most commonly used words in printed text. Your child will be introduced to many of these words throughout the school year. Please reference the Google Slideshow below in order to review the sight words that will be taught in kindergarten. Reviewing the slides with your child at home will help them master the high frequency words presented in our language arts curriculum.
