Classroom Wish List

Please consider helping out my classroom. To give you an idea of how some of the items on my list are used in the classroom either for center or rewards. The stuffed dogs become our reading buddies during read to self. The eraser animals are used as a reward for goal setting.

The Swolgaard family at the beach

Mrs. Swolgaard

This is my twentieth year in the Etiwanda School District. I previously taught six years for Anaheim City School District. I attended the Notre Dame de Namur University in San Francisco. I graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art with an emphasis in Interior Design. I chose to go back to school in 1996 for my teaching credential.

I have a terrific husband and a very attention starved dog. We have three daughters, Amelia Catherine, is 19 years old and Caitlin Rose, is 17 years old and Alyssa Grace is 14 years old.

I am an avid traveler, and now that are girls are a little bit older, we have been traveling a little more. Even with everything going on we still managed to get in some traveling. We camped in Lake Tahoe and Santa Cruz this summer. I have family in Italy and travel to see them every few years. I have traveled twice to Australia, my husband and I spent New Year’s Eve in Sydney, Australia. I’ve been to many Caribbean Islands, Hawaiian Islands, and many different states, including Alaska. My goal is to one day travel the world.

Mission For the Class

I am looking forward to the 2023-2024 school year. Your child will be part of an exciting class this year. I am looking forward to teaching your child and helping him/her master the grade level standards. I know that you are just as excited in seeing you child blossom this year. There are challenges every year and I expect all my students to participate and learn.

Announcements

Attendance
Please have your child to school and lined up no later than 8:10. They are considered tardy if they are not in seat @ 8:15. On Mondays, school begins at 8:15 and dismissal is at 1:15. Tuesday-Friday school begins at 8:15 and dismissal is at 2:45.

Parent Portal
Just a reminder that many of the documents that needed to be completed at the beginning of the school year are located on the district's Parent Portal site. If you have not filled them out, I encourage you to do so as soon as possible. If you are having difficulty accessing your account, please stop by our school office for assistance. Here is the site you will need to access to login.

Upcoming Events

P.E.
PE is every Monday and Wednesday from 12:25-1:15. Please make sure on these days those students have an extra water and cap.

Spirit Days
On Fridays, have your child show as much school spirit as possible. This can be done a few different ways. We'd love to see the children in a school shirt (purchased through our PTO) or a blue or green shirt (school colors).

Homework Assignments

Homework will go home in your child's homework binder every FRIDAY and will be returned the following FRIDAY. If Friday is a holiday, homework will go home the day we return. We do this so that you are able to get started over the weekend if you know you have a busy week ahead. This will also help your child become acquainted with the upcoming objectives. I do not correct homework. However, I do look it over and it does count toward each child's participation grade. I will indicate homework completion by writing a check mark to show you that I have reviewed it. I will often leave little notes to have you go over any errors or to recognize a job well done. Important! Please take care of the homework binder. It needs to be brought to and from school every day. If the binder is damaged or lost, you will need to replace it immediately (1" clear, white view binder). It is an important resource for you and your child, so please treat it with care. Thank you for supporting and helping your child to succeed!
