Max Hernandez

Hello families! My name is Mr. Hernandez, or Mr. H for short. I have been a teacher for twenty-four years in the Etiwanda School District. I earned my Liberal Studies degree from Azusa Pacific University and my Master's in Administration from Point Loma Nazarene University. I've made it my goal to get as many people as possible to fall in love with Math and Science as well. I am here to support my students and their families, in any way possible. Thank you for reading.

Family is number one for me. I have an amazing wife and my best friend. Her name is Kelli and she teaches Kindergarten at Windrows Elementary. We love all things outdoors together, especially hiking, biking, running, and spending time with our fur babies. Together, we have raised two amazing children. My daughter is Mackenzie. She's 22 years old and she recently graduated from CU Boulder which is in Colorado. She now lives in Colorado and works full time with a non-profit organization called FRIENDS of Broomfield. My son's name is Luke. Luke is a junior in college and and works a full time job. As a family, we are close, supportive of one another, and love spending time together as often as life allows us.

I am a very active person. I enjoy all things outdoors. I race road bikes as a category 1 pro cyclist. One of my biggest achievements in cycling has to be that I was the California State Champ in 2021 and have won many races over my career. Hiking is another of my favorite past times. There's something I love about being out in nature and spending days out in the backcountry where few people are and your house is basically whatever fits into the pack on your back. One other hobby is running. I run with my wife when I can but she runs super long distances like marathons (26.2 miles) or even longer.

Fur babies. Currently I have three dogs - Zorro, Bear, and Moose. Zorro is a Jack-Russell/Chihuahua mix. He's our pound puppy, about 10 years old, and yes he runs the show. Bear is 2 years old and is a Husky/Weimaraner mix. Bear is our athletic dog - he runs 8 miles easily and is already ready for his next walk. Last is Moose. Moose is a Golden Doodle. He's 1 year old. We are his 5th and final home because Moose has lots of energy. Moose loves having two brothers but can be a lot at times (in a happy way).
