Mr. Rowland - SAI (ELA)

Hello and welcome! My name is Brad Rowland and I am so excited for the 2023-2024 school year. Our class website includes class information, announcements, weekly homework, and some helpful resources that can be used throughout the school year.

This is my fourth year of teaching SAI at Day Creek Intermediate School. I'll be teaching the English Language Arts class where students will be working to master their skills in vocabulary, reading, reading comprehension, and writing. This will be my third year partnering with Mrs. Hampton, who will be teaching the math portion of SAI. I have known Mrs. Hampton for a very long time and feel very confident with our partnership and cohesiveness when it comes to the students.

I earned my Bachelor's Degree in English from the University at Buffalo in Buffalo, New York. I earned my teaching credential in Special Education and Master's Degree in Inclusive Education from the University of La Verne.

I love everything sport related which at times can make my classroom a very biased place and can create ongoing jokes with the kiddos. I have made it very clear that if students would like to wear sports memorabilia to school they must represent the following teams: Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Bengals, Boston Celtics, Anaheim Ducks, and USC. I'm also a high school football coach at Damien High School and I've been coaching there now for 5 seasons.

I'm not only a huge advocate for reading, but I'm also an avid reader myself (when time allows). I enjoy spending time and traveling with friends and family. I have been married to my wife for two years, we recently had a son over the summer, and we have miniature dachshund named Bentley. Mrs. Rowland is also a teacher in the Etiwanda School District.

I look forward to continuing the relationship I have with students and their families from previous years. I'm also very excited about getting to know each of my new students and their families! Parents, if you ever need anything from me or if you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to email me or call me on the school phone. I'm a huge advocate of parent-teacher collaboration and I will provide you with as much support as I can!
