A.R. Trimester Requirements

  • Read one A.R. novel per trimester within the student's reading range. Check your current STAR Report by visiting Renaissance Place and checking under your A.R. report.  Look for your IRL (Independent Reading Level) and ZPD (student's reading range).

  • A.R. choices will be approved with Mrs. C during Book Club each trimester.

  • Students must take the A.R. test for their novel and earn an 80% or higher on their score in order to earn full credit for this assignment.

  • This assignment will be placed in grade books under the 'Test' category.

  • Students may earn L.A. extra credit by reading additional A.R. novels within their reading range and scoring a 80% or higher on their A.R. test(s).

  • A brief email from a student's parent must be submitted to Mrs. C in the event the A.R. novel is a motion picture/movie.  The email needs to acknowledge that the student has/will read the book in its entirety.

  • Students will need to bring their A.R. book to school everyday. Some classes (i.e. PACK/Universal Access) may require that students read an A.R. book during the Sustained Silent Reading (S.S.R.) time.

  • Your Trimester A.R. book is not a book that you are required to read in your PACK/Universal Access, Coyote Academy, or Social Studies classes. It is a book you will chose (and approved by Mrs. C) that you can read during S.S.R. and/or at home for homework.

  • Please read 15-20 min per day.

  • Trimester Book Check: please see the daily Language Arts Homework tab on for due dates and information.

  • Trimester A.R. TEST and Extra Credit A.R. Test(s): please see the daily Language Arts Homework tab for due dates and information.

  • HomeConnect is an option for parents to monitor how their child is progressing.  The link is on the library web page.  http://lib.etiwanda.org/default.asp  . Parents use their child’s UN and PW to log in.
