Notice for 2019-20 School Year

After close evaluation of the enrollment of special education and general education students in grades TK-8 districtwide, the Etiwanda School District has determined that all school sites are CLOSED to new inter and intra-district transfers with the exception of:

  • EASE Home School – open only to intra-district transfers

Additionally, the district has determined that some school sites may become “severely impacted”.  A school is considered to be “severely impacted” if, based upon current enrollment, there is no additional classroom space and/or a current elementary enrollment may severely impact an intermediate school site upon matriculation.  Families considering inter or intra-district transfer requests for the 2019-2020 school year should note that the following schools are “severely impacted”:

  • Grapeland Elementary – all grades

  • John L. Golden Elementary – all grades

  • Perdew Elementary – all grades

  • Terra Vista Elementary – all grades

  • Windrows Elementary – all grades

  • Etiwanda Intermediate School – all grades

Intra-district Transfer Process

Any parent or guardian of a TK-8 student residing within the Etiwanda School District boundaries may apply for a transfer to any school within the district.  Please see below for additional information pertaining to Intra-district transfers:

  • Students must be enrolled in their school of residence before submitting an Intra-district transfer request.
  • Intra-district transfer requests are granted based upon space availability, student conduct, and attendance.
  • Parent/guardian assumes responsibility for providing transportation to and from school.
  • A student on an approved Intra-district transfer may be subject to reassignment due to excessive enrollment at a school site.
  • Once a student is granted an Intra-district transfer for the school requested, they will attend the school(s) until the completion of 8th grade, as long as enrollment space exists and all transfer conditions are met.
  • An approved Intra-district transfer may be revoked at any time if information is falsified on the transfer request form or if a student demonstrates unsatisfactory conduct and/or attendance. Revocations are final and not subject to an appeal process.

    Inter-district Transfer Process

OUTGOING Inter-district Transfers - families who reside within the Etiwanda School District boundaries, but wish to attend school in another district.

Transfer requests are available for pick up at the Etiwanda School District Office.  Completed applications are to be submitted to the Pupil Services Department.  Upon approval, the transfer request will be forwarded to the desired district.

INCOMING Inter-district Transfers – families of children in grades TK-8 who live outside of the Etiwanda School District boundaries, but wish to attend a school within the Etiwanda School District.

Inter-district transfer requests must be obtained from the student’s district of residence for release of the student.  The completed transfer request will then be sent to our Pupil Services Department for review. All students on a current incoming inter-district transfer do not have to renew their interdistrict transfer application unless requesting a different school.

Please see below for additional information pertaining to incoming Inter-district transfers:

  • Inter-district transfer requests are granted based upon space availability.
  • The district shall not provide transportation outside of any school attendance area.
  • A student on an approved inter-district transfer may be subject to reassignment due to excessive enrollment at a school site.
  • Once a student is enrolled in a school on an approved inter-district transfer, he/she shall not be required to reapply.
  • An approved inter-district transfer may be revoked at any time if information is falsified on the transfer request form or if a student demonstrates unsatisfactory conduct and/or attendance.
